More info on Maui... I used the book "Maui Revealed" as my travel guide and it was helpful. Check out some of my blogs... Road to Hana Napili & Gazebo Plantation Golf Kahekili Hwy Cliff Jump Family Trip I Family Trip II In the West Side... We stayed at Kapalua and we are so happy we did! So perfect for us! We were not far from Lahaina where we spent most evenings. That town was great for nightlife, shopping and dining. Ka'anapali was a nice area for soft sand beaches and high end shopping and dining. There were a ton of tourist in this area. Our friends were staying in their condo in Kahana and this area was pretty too. Napili was over crowded even though the beach was a beautiful crescent. Again, we totally preferred the Kapalua area over the rest of the tourist resorts. In the South Side of the island... Make sure to visit Makena "Big Beach" and La Perouse Bay for fabulous snorkeling. Kihei has a lot of strip-malls, there was a good pizza place "Pizza Madness" In the Middle... Kahului is where the airport and walmart/costco are for cheaper groceries. Paia is a hippie town with "Flat Bread" Pizza, delicious! There is a great surfing beach called "Hookipa" where the turtles come up onto the beach at sunset! Iao Valley is awesome too! Haleakala would have been great to explore the summit but we never had a chance to go there, always next time. Map of Kapalua area where we stayed with my notes....
